Unfortunately Alexander Bellow was wrong about the year.
Research shows the year 1946 to be accurate.
This has been confirmed by Miguel Coelho, Olga’s son and Jack Silver, her biografer.

Do people on this forum have additional proof for the year 1946. Or can more people exclude the year 1944?
Thanks for the information. I don’t know more about it than what’s in the book snippet.
Thank you Josh for your reply.
Olga and Andrés Segovia started their relation in 1944. So, if Olga had nylon strings in 1944, then Andrés would have known.
In 1946 Andrés complained about the shortage of gut strings.
He wouldn’t have complained if he already had some nylon strings.
In my opinion the year 1944 can be ruled out by this contradiction. Anyone agrees?
I don’t know enough about the history of nylon strings to have an opinion. I’m going to keep an eye out for more information though. Maybe someone else who knows the answer will stop by.
